To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Repossi's iconic Antifer collection, the Place Vendôme jeweller collaborated with British born ceramicist Martha Freud to interpret Antifer in her chosen medium with complete creative freedom.
Made by hand with the expertise of the Repossi High Jewellery savoir-faire, the Antifer collection is a mastery of meticulous process and traditional technique. The motif’s famous Antifer points speak to both the natural formation of Antifer Rocks in Normandy, and the minimalist lines of contemporary art and architecture rooted in the Maison’s genes. In Antifer’s new vision of the traditional wedding ring, the peaked form and sharp angles interplay with space to create natural harmony.
Known for her delicately constructed ceramics, Martha Freud’s works balance a uniquely fragile beauty with her own touch of playful irreverence. The simplicity of organic forms borne from slow and traditional making processes can be deeply felt throughout her artistic practice. With a celebration of natural forms at its essence, Martha Freud’s reinterpretation of the collection is a study of these contradictory forces connecting and finding balance. The motif is stacked, layered and illuminated from within, to build a multitude of forms. In darkness, Freud’s sculptures cast new silhouettes, mirroring the glittering interplay of light upon diamonds.
“Repossi is once again celebrating the union of art and jewellery by teaming up with Martha Freud in London, a city that is renowned for its boundless creativity and individualism. In this collaboration, Martha has taken inspiration from our Antifer collection, turning the traditional creative metronome on its head. Here, the jewellery has become a source of inspiration for the artist, giving rise to a body of work that offers a new perspective on the artistic dimension of Antifer.”
